COLOBFOLGO

Studio Origins

Beside the Arno

Colobfolgo was founded in 2017 by landscape designer Luca Ferrini from a narrow workshop on Via Santa Maria, minutes from the Leaning Tower. The studio name echoes a Tuscan phrase for sheltered colonnade living—colonne al folgorare—where afternoon shade makes outdoor rooms habitable.

Luca trained in Florence and spent three years documenting terrace typologies across Liguria and Tuscany before establishing independent practice in Pisa.

Small Dedicated Team

Luca leads design direction and site surveys. Technical drawer Giulia Romano produces plans and sections; horticulturist Marco Bianchi specifies planting for coastal wind and drought tolerance. The team remains compact to ensure Luca attends every site survey personally.

External structural engineers are engaged when terrace loads require formal calculation.

Design Ethos

Outdoor rooms should feel carved from the landscape rather than dropped onto it. We favour local stone, trained olive and citrus, and furniture scaled to human conversation rather than catalogue display.

Every project includes a sun-path diagram showing shade coverage at 10:00, 14:00, and 18:00 on summer solstice.

Service Area

Primary commissions occur within forty kilometres of Pisa, including Lucca, Livorno, and coastal villages toward Tirrenia. Remote consultation packages serve Florence and Rome clients with second homes in Tuscany.

Travel beyond 40 km billed at €0.55 per kilometre from Via Santa Maria studio.

Studio Visits

Material sample review appointments available Wednesday and Friday afternoons. The ground-floor showroom displays paving options, pergola timber samples, and outdoor fabric swatches under skylight conditions mimicking terrace exposure.

Appointments through [email protected]; no unscheduled walk-ins.
