Survey and Analysis
Every terrace commission begins with measured survey noting existing paving, door thresholds, drainage outlets, and neighbour sight lines. We photograph the space at hourly intervals on a clear day to build shade maps.
Survey findings appear as annotated plan in the first deliverable milestone, typically two weeks after site visit.
Zoning Strategy
Functional zones—cooking proximity, dining, lounging, planting—are separated by material change rather than physical barriers where possible. This preserves visual openness on smaller Pisa centro terraces rarely exceeding 25 square metres.
Circulation paths maintain 90 cm clear width for comfortable movement between furniture groupings.
Paving Selection
Travertine, terracotta, and porcelain stoneware each suit different terrace conditions. Travertine handles coastal salt when sealed; terracotta breathes well on historic building rooftops; porcelain suits contemporary builds requiring thin profile overlays.
Paving schedules specify joint widths, fall gradients toward drains, and threshold details at door interfaces.
Planting Integration
Container and built-in planter designs specify drought-tolerant species: rosemary, lavender, citrus, and ornamental grasses suited to Tuscan summers. Irrigation routing appears on plan without specifying equipment brands.
Weight limits for rooftop terraces are flagged when planting soil depth exceeds 30 cm, triggering structural review recommendation.
Lighting Concepts
Low-voltage terrace lighting extends usable hours without disturbing neighbours. We specify fixture positions, beam angles, and circuit zoning for dining versus ambient modes.
Lighting design add-on €1,100 includes reflected ceiling plan equivalent for open sky terraces with mounting height annotations.
